Lil Leaders Program: Designed for Preschoolers

Have you noticed your child running around the house kicking and punching at all of your furniture? Are they running around fighting off mystical bad guys to save the day? If your preschooler is anything like mine, then they probably have quite the imagination.

In our preschool classes at our Indianapolis martial arts school, we like to harness that playful, magical energy into fun games and gross motor developing activities. Our preschool martial arts classes are designed for kids ages 4 & 5 years old. We teach big concepts like classroom discipline, cooperation with other children, and teamwork.

We also emphasize on respect, focus and confidence. How do we do that? Through play based learning and martial arts activities. Preschoolers learn confidence and goal setting by achieving stripes on their belts by showing the martial arts moves they have learned. We teach them teamwork by playing games that require them to work together.

Clients Review

I want to tell you a brief story of one of our preschool students named Orion. Orion came to us at 3.5 years old. His mom had told us that he had some behavioral issues and wasn’t sure what they were going to do with him. He was soon going to be going to preschool and was looking for help in building up his confidence and courage. See what she had to say below.

“I have enrolled my son in the Lil’ Leaders program at The Way Martial Arts, and I have to say that I’m extremely impressed. My son has had a lot of behavior issues, inability to focus, make eye contact and listen, his confidence was just as low as it could get despite our efforts to keep him encouraged, and his ability to follow instructions was lacking. He is due to be enrolled in preschool this fall and I absolutely HAD to do something, but I wasn’t sure what to do, I was at a loss.

After about three weeks, I can already tell you he has made a wonderful improvement. Not only is he LEARNING and MEMORIZING all of his moves and the names of them, but he is actually hearing what Mr. Brown has to say. He is already improving on eye contact when others are speaking to him and when he is speaking, his confidence is through the roof, and he has been following instructions and acting respectful both there and at home. He’s learning that you can’t always get things for free and that you have to work hard to earn great rewards in life, and he’s having a blast doing it!

Mr. Brown is absolutely wonderful with his students. He is always positive and outgoing, and has the ability to focus the students’ attention without the need for a stern voice. He teaches discipline in such a positive, fun way, and the kids just think they’re having fun. It is wonderful that not only does my son have a mother and father to look up to and learn from, but he now has this wonderful martial arts instructor, and I say the more the merrier! If my son can have this much positive influence in his life from many people in many aspects, there’s no doubt in my mind that he will achieve great things in his lifetime!

I wholeheartedly recommend The Way to anyone looking for a work out, or if you’re looking for something your child can be involved in that will offer a wide variety of teachings. Maybe your child has ADHD or is having a hard time in school due to lack of confidence or bullying, this is the place to be! Or your child is in need of a challenge, this is the place to be! They have also offered women’s self defense ad bullying seminars throughout the year, which are a must!” – Jessie T.

Orion continued to train with us for a year. It was amazing to watch as his confidence grow. We had one instructor that he was terrified of. Orion was a little guy and our instructor was over six feet tall. But after a few months, he had no problem with our instructor and had grown quite fond of him!

Our little leaders program is a great place for your children to learn and grow! Come check out one of our classes yourself. Use the form to the right to even sign up for a free introductory class and let your preschool try a class out themselves.
